Cloud Computing in India:
A new dawn has arrived and cloud computing and its sister services have started to gain momentum in this new era where cloud based services are being accepted and appreciated for its unique features.
In simple language, Cloud Computing is a general term for hosted services which are delivered over the Internet. All one needs is a PC or an Internet enabled device to be able to use these hosted services via Internet. It is different from the traditional use of Software or other IT infrastructure services. Its services are charged based on subscription or a tariff based on pay per unit basis. The customers typically pay for the usage rate based on per hour or per minute, as the case may be.
Cloud based services are gaining its momentum after the Announcement of “Digital India” campaign launched by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on 2nd July 2015. Under this campaign, the main objective was to connect rural areas with high-speed Internet network and improving digital literacy.
This along with GST implementation has brought a new kind of change in the IT sector. People have started to realize what true potential technology holds.
Cloud based services are getting popular mainly because of its unique features such as:
- Subscription Based Service Model
- Cost Effectiveness
- Any Time Access
- Do more with less
- Flexible
- Software updates are readily available
This features had played a vital role in changing the trend of customer view point in India. The main reason for the sudden upsurge in the use of cloud based services is also linked with the increasing number of internet subscribers.
Recently JIO has completely changed the mobile data network scenario and it also brought a new revolution in the field of mobile data rates. This brought in more internet subscribers which ultimately resulted in more users of cloud based services.
Due to all these changes in the internet and data subscriber’s space, people are getting more used to internet based services and thus cloud computing is the new buzz word.
Software as a Service (SAAS), one of the type of cloud services is becoming most popular. Due to the unique features of cloud services attached to it, SAAS has become the preferable form of cloud services which are used by small and medium businesses.
After the implementation of GST and its preference towards dealing with the transaction in an electronic network, the demand for Cloud based Accounting software has increased many folds.
Cloud Based Accounting Software running on SAAS model has become number one preference for the small and medium businesses as it gives them flexibility, cost effectiveness, and easy accessibility.
